About Light from the Path

Institute for Guidance and Fatwa

Who Are We?

Light from the Path (LFP) is an institute that produces fatwas, conducts research, and provides guidance through classes and advising. We exist to help people navigate their lives by clarifying to them the path, or Sunna, of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. In doing so, our hope is that we all collectively live a better life that is more pleasing to Allah Most High.

Why Do We Exist?

Every day, we are faced with decisions whose consequences go beyond this world. Alhamdulillah, from His mercy, Allah sent the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, to us as a guide. The path he took in life, or his Sunna, holds all the answers we need to better navigate ours. Following his Sunna and taking his path, leads to our hearts being enlightened and Allah being more pleased with us.

Our purpose is to clarify the path of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, through our fatwas, research, classes, and advising services in a manner that is accurate, reliable, and accessible.

How We Answer Questions and Conduct Research

All our answers, fatwas, and guidance are thoroughly researched, written, and reviewed by qualified scholars with chains of transmission leading back to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Our works are grounded in the Quran, the Sunna of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and the classical tradition of the scholars of the four madhhabs (schools of thought) of Islam. Long-form fatwas and research include relevant evidence from the Quran, Hadith, or texts of the scholars, while short-form fatwas might not include such evidence for brevity. Fatwas are given according to the madhhab and circumstance of the questioner.
